THAW @ [prak-sis]

Thaw, organized and hosted by [prak-sis], featured three floors of open artist studios with live auctions, workshops, DJ performances, interactive installations and more. Our room, called "Spectrum", was based loosely on games of chance and divination and was heavily interactive, featuring color therapy, reiki, massage, fortune cookies, gemology, herbology, numerology and art installations. Here are a few select images from the show. Documentation by Eve Rivera.

Art On Track on CTA Orange Line

Art On Track, a mobile gallery organized by Salvo and Lethal Poetry, featured galleries on an 8-car train on the CTA Orange Line. Each car featured a different gallery, creating unique individual environments. It was the first successful and largest mobile gallery...I was commissioned to curate an installation for The Silver Room, local Chicago lifestyle shop. Featured artists include: Joanna Burgraf, Orlando Camacho, Chadwick (The Vibe Providers) , Kiwon Choi, Monica Cruz, Ricardo Gamboa (Barrel of Monkeys, Latinos Progresando/Teatro Americano), Maria Gaspar, Jennifer Hall, John Tuan Huynh (Product of Thought), Agnieszka Kulon (Kreatia) and Eve Rivera. Music was curated by DJ Madrid (The Vibe Providers/White Label). Check it out...

Ecole Du Magasin, Grenoble FR

On a whim, after developing an interest in curatorial work, I applied to the International Curatorial Training Program at Ecole du Magasin at Magasin-CNAC Grenoble FR. I was one of eight people internationally accepted as a participant of Session 16. Through the program, we studied the life and work of the late curator Harald Szeemann. We conducted individual (see article MOJO: Masters of Ceremony) and group research over a ten month period in which we constructed and developed a website and myspace page for communication and two final projects: editorial publication "Harald Szeemann. Individual Methodology" and exhibition "Everybody Wants to Rule the World". The project continues to live and tour internationally: France, Italy, Japan, Korea, Lithuania, Mexico, United States and more.

During my studies 4000+ Miles (7000+ KM) away from home, I had a few adventures including singing in a band of gypsy-inspired musicians and djing locally. This allowed me and my friends to quickly fill up our free time with the fine art of "making a parrrty". You can read a recap of my experience here.

Translucent Chocolates

During 2006, I freelanced as Gallery Coordinator for Translucent Chocolates, a chocolate showroom/gallery, which was located in the Pilsen Art District. Although it no longer exists, it was an era of freedom and experimentation for my curatorial work in a gallery as well as a party for the senses. While hosting customized chocolate tastings, we also featured local visual artists, special public and private events, local djs and hospitality industry folk.
